2024 EPS-QEOD Prize for Research into the Science of Light

The prize is awarded to Professor John Dudley, University of Franche-Comté and CNRS Institute FEMTO-ST, Besançon, France, and Professor Goëry Genty, Tampere University, Finland, for “pioneering contributions to ultrafast nonlinear fibre optics which have opened new frontiers into the study of supercontinuum light, nonlinear optical instabilities and rogue waves“.

2024 EPS Hannes Alfvén Prize

The 2024 EPS Hannes Alfvén Prize is jointly awarded to:

- Professor Tünde Fülöp and

- Professor Per Helander

"for outstanding contributions to theoretical plasma physics, yielding groundbreaking results that significantly impact the understanding and optimization of magnetically confined fusion plasmas."

2024 EPS-APS Landau-Spitzer Prize: Call for nominations

The board of the EPS Plasma Physics Division invites nominations for the 2024 Lev D. Landau and Lyman Spitzer Jr. Award for Outstanding Contributions to Plasma Physics jointly awarded with the APS Division of Plasma Physics. The detailed information on how to nominate can be found here. The person or team receiving the award will be offered an invited talk at the forthcoming 50th EPS Conference on Plasma Physics.

Deadline 1st of April.

EPS NPD Applied Nuclear Physics prize: Call for nominations

The board of the Nuclear Physics Division (NPD) of the European Physical Society (EPS) calls for nominations for the 2024 EPS Nuclear Physics Division Prize for Applied Nuclear Physics. This is a new prize sponsored by the division, consisting of a diploma of the EPS and 3000 €, which will be awarded during the 2024 Applied Nuclear Physics conference.

Deadline for nominations is 31st of March 2024.

EPS NPD Best PhD thesis prize: Call for nominations

The call for nominations for the 2021-2023 European Nuclear Physics Thesis Prize is now open.

Three PhD Thesis prizes are awarded by the European Physical Society through its Nuclear Physics Division Board. These prizes recognise excellent PhD theses defended in the last three years.

Deadline for nominations 31st of March 2024.

IUPAP Awards for young researchers

Nominations are sought for the Early Career Scientist Prizes in Semiconductor Physics awarded by the IUPAP C8 Commission on Semiconductors. Two prizes are awarded biennially for outstanding contributions to semiconductor physics and its applications, made by early career scientists. The prizes will be awarded during the 36th International Conference on the Physics of Semiconductors to be held in Ottawa, Canada from July 28 to August 2, 2024.

Deadline extended to 11th February 2024.

50th EPS Conference on Plasma Physics
The conference will take place in Salamanca, Spain, from 8th-12th July 2024.

Physics Days 2024
The annual meeting of the Finnish Physical Society will be organised in Helsinki on 4th-6th March 2024.

UP 2024
The 23rd International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena will take place from 14th-19th July 2024 in Barcelona, Spain.
