The 2024 Landau-Spitzer Award is announced!

The winners of the 2024 Lev D. Landau and Lyman Spitzer Jr. Award are Anna Grassi, Frederico Fiuza, George F. Swadling and Hye-Sook Park. The team receives the award “for the critical advancement in the understanding of the particle acceleration physics in astrophysically-relevant shocks through theoretical analysis and experiments at the National Ignition Facility”.

2024 Prizes of the EPS Plasma Physics Division

Earlier this summer, the EPS Plasma Physics Division had a successful conference in Salamanca, Spain. During this 50th edition poster prizes, and a project prize sponsored by Kyushu University in Japan, were awarded.

The names of the winners can be found on the websites of the EPS Plasma Physics Division and the PPCF journal.

Winners of the 2024 EPS Applied Nuclear Prize

The Nuclear Physics Division of the European Physical Society (EPS-NPD) is proud to announce the award of the 2024 Applied Nuclear Physics Prize jointly to:

- Alberto Del Guerra and
- Laura Harkness-Brennan

The prize will be presented during the 2nd Applied Nuclear Physics Conference (ANP2024) in September.

2024 EPS Liquid Matter Prize

The Liquid Matter Division of the EPS is happy to announce the 2024 EPS Liquid Matter Prize is awarded to:

- Julia Yeomans

"for her pioneering role in developing models and algorithms to increase our understanding of a wide range of complex fluids and flowing biological matter."

Call for proposals for the next EPS President-Elect

A number of vacancies will arise on the European Physical Society (EPS) Executive Committee in 2025, including the position of President-Elect.

The deadline to send proposals for nomination is 15th October 2024.

Call for the 2024 Lise Meitner Prize

The call for nominations for the 2024 Lise Meitner Prize is open.

Requirements for nominations are described on the EPS Nuclear Physics Division's website and should be accompanied by a completed online form.

The deadline for nominations is 25th October 2024.

Discovery Space, an EU-funded project

EPS is involved in Discovery Space, an EU-funded project to develop an Exploratory Learning Environment to facilitate students’ inquiry and problem-solving through learning scenarios featuring virtual and remote labs.


Breaking News: Call for nomination for the board of the EPS Nuclear Physics Division

Nomination is open for one new ordinary board member of the EPS Nuclear Physics Division.
The deadline to apply is 11th October 2024.


ERC: Work with us!

The European Research Counil is currently recruiting new scientific officers in the areas of Physics and / or Universe Sciences, as well as Mathematics and Statistics.

These are posts that can lead to a permanent employment at the ERC Executive Agency in Brussels, which could be an interesting career option for some of the EPS members. 

The deadline to apply is 10th September 2024.
