The EPS QEOD Prizes 2025 are announced!
The Quantum Electronics and Optics Division (QEOD) of the European Physical Society is happy to announce its 2025 prizes. The prizes will be presented at the CLEO© Europe/EQEC conference held in Munich in June. View the complete list of winners and the citations on the website of the EPS QEOD.
Responsible community-led publishing at EPL
EPL is a respected non-profit journal that publishes letters at the frontiers of physics.
On May 22nd 2025, its editorial board convened at the headquarters of the European Physical Society (EPS) in Mulhouse, France, to share their experience of handling manuscripts and discuss the journal’s strategic direction.

GSI/FAIR: Federal Ministry of Research grants millions for “fusion talent”
Starting 1st June, Dr. Jonas Ohland, laser physicist at GSI/FAIR, will lead the young investigator group ALADIN (Adaptive Laser Architecture Development and INtegration).
The project lays the foundation for the realization of stable, efficient lasers for inertial confinement fusion.
GSI is an EPS Associate Member.
Wendelstein 7-X sets new performance records in fusion research
On 22nd May, the latest experimental campaign concluded at the world’s most powerful nuclear fusion device of the stellarator type. Through collaboration between researchers from Europe and the USA, Wendelstein 7-X achieved a world record in a key parameter of fusion physics: the triple product.
The Max-Planck-Gesellschaft IPP is an EPS Associate Member.

EuNPC2027: Call for bids
The board of the Nuclear Physics Division (NPD) of the European Physical Society is seeking candidates to host the 2027 edition of the European Nuclear Physics Conference (EuNPC).
Every three years the European Nuclear Physics Conference brings together researchers with the aim to review and discuss the status and prospects in the field of nuclear physics and its applications.
Deadline 31st July 2025.
4th International Symposium on the History of Particle Physics
The symposium will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 10th-13th November 2025.
It will be organised at CERN and cover the history of particle physics in the 1980s and the 1990s.
This symposium is now brought to Europe to follow previous editions which took place in the USA (SLAC and Fermilab) and covered earlier periods in the history of particle physics.

The conference will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania, from 7th-11th July 2025.
12th Congress of the Balkan Physical Union
The congress will be held in Bucharest, Romania, from 8th-12th July 12, 2025.

The conference will take place from 8th-12th September 2025 in Göttingen, Germany.
EuNPC 2025
The conference will take place in Caen from 22nd-26th September 2025.
