EPS statement: The EPS condemns the continuing attacks by the Russian Federation against Ukraine

The European Physical Society (EPS) strongly condemns the continuing attacks by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, an independent and sovereign country.

EPS PPD Innovation Prize 2022

The 2022 EPS Plasma Physics Innovation Prize was awarded to Dr Ane Aanesland, Dr Dmytro Rafalskyi and Javier Martínez Martínez (ThrustMe, France) for technological, industrial or societal applications of research in plasma physics. They successfully pioneered the use of iodine-fuelled plasma-based electric propulsion systems for satellites.

2022 is the Year of Mieczyslaw Wolfke in Poland

This year was announced in Poland as a Year of Mieczyslaw Wolfke by Polish Physical Society, Warsaw University of Technology, Photonics Society of Poland and the Committee of Physics of Polish Academy of Sciences.
Mieczyslaw Wolfke (1883-1947) was a notable Polish physicist, inventor, and advocate of technical physics.

Federico Boscherini will be the next Council Chair of the XFEL

Federico Boscherini, Professor of Physics at the Physics and Astronomy Department of the University of Bologna, has been elected as the new Chair of the Council of the European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser Facility (European XFEL). The appointment starts from July 2022 for a first two year period.

Inauguration at SESAME new lab of INFN-CHNet network dedicated to Cultural Heritage

On February 15, Italy’s Ambassador to Jordan, Fabio Cassese, inaugurated at SESAME a new laboratory of the INFN-CHNet network dedicated to Cultural Heritage of the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) and hailed SESAME’s inclusion in the network. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Director of SESAME, Khaled Toukan, and many members of the scientific community. The event was also attended by the coordinator of the INFN-CHNet network, Francesco Taccetti, and Mariangela Cestelli Guidi, Head of the synchrotron beamline of the Daphne-Light Laboratory at the INFN Frascati National Laboratories.

The conference will be held from 27th June-1st July in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The conference will be held from 4th-8th July in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The symposium will be held on 30th April in Lichtensteig, Switzerland.

ÖPG meeting
The meeting will take place from 26th-30th September in Leoben, Austria.
