Nobel Prize in Physics 2022

The Nobel Prize in Physics 2022 was awarded jointly to:
- Alain Aspect
,
- John F. Clauser and
- Anton Zeilinger
for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science"

The Department of Physics “Aldo Pontremoli” in Milan was distinguished as an EPS Historic Site

The award ceremony as EPS Historic Site of the Institute of Complementary Physics of Milan University took place in the hall of the Department of Physics “Aldo Pontremoli” on 16th September 2022.

EPS Young Minds Lisbon Movie Night - 2nd edition

On the evening of 1st July 2022, the Lisbon EPS Young Minds section organised the second edition of the “Young Minds Movie Night”. Just like the previous edition, this event took place in the cloister of the Lisbon Museum of Natural History and Science.

First EPS Historic Site in Croatia

As early as January 2020, the old building of the Zagreb-Grič Observatory has been recognised as an EPS Historic Site. The observatory was originally a meteorological station, founded at this site in 1861 and has been continuously operating ever since.

EPS-APS Landau-Spitzer Prize 2022

The 2022 Lev D. Landau and Lyman Spitzer Jr. Award for Outstanding Contributions to Plasma Physics, is going to:
Christopher Chen (Queen Mary University London, UK),
Gregory Howes (University of Iowa, USA), and
Kristopher Klein (University of Arizona, USA)

EPS reaction to human rights violation in Iran

The European Physical Society supports the statements by the United Nations and the European Parliament condemning the ongoing human rights violations in Iran.

Third conference of the EPS Gravitational Physics Division

Report on the 4th CFPLP held in Cidade da Praia

The 4th Physics Conference of Portuguese Speaking Countries was held in Cidade da Praia, Cabo Verde, from 14th to 16th September 2022.

The Conference was hosted by the Universidade de Cabo Verde (UniCV) and took place on its new beautiful campus.

49th European Conference on Plasma Physics
The conference will take place in July 2023 in Bordeaux, France. The call for proposals for plenary and invited talks is open.

Physics "New" Faculty Workshop
The workshop will take place from 23rd-27th July 2023 in Ascone, Switzerland.
