EPS Europhysics Prize 2023

The EPS Europhysics Prize is one of Europe’s most prestigious prizes in the field of condensed matter physics. It is awarded in recognition of a prominent and well-identifiable discovery, breakthrough, or contribution to condensed matter physics, by one or more individuals, contribution that, in the opinion of the Society's selection committee, represents scientific excellence.

The call for nominations is open until 28th February 2023.

The call for nominations for the 2023 HEPP Division Prizes is now open. 

The deadline for nominations is 31st January 2023.

EPS-PED Secondary Teacher Award

EPS-PED Secondary Teacher Award

The European Physical Society (EPS), acting through its Physics Education Division (PED) grants the Award for Secondary School Teaching.

The deadline for nominations is 1st March 2023.

GIREP: Sara Barbieri Award

GIREP: Sara Barbieri Award

The "Groupe International de Recherche sur l’Enseignement de la Physique" (GIREP) created an award to be conferred to teachers who have carried out an active learning physics didactic project developed by experiments built with poor materials.

The dealine for nominations is 20th February 2023.

Nomination of the next president of the German Physical Society

The DPG's Council elected Klaus Richter, physics professor in Regensburg, as the future president of the world's largest physics society with around 55,000 members.

EPS CMD Board elections

Following the statutes of the EPS Condensed Matter Division, three new members of the board are to be elected.

The deadline for applications is 31st January 2023.

150th anniversary of the French Physical Society

On 16th January, the French Physical Society launched the celebrations of its 150th anniversary in Paris, France.

Unique live view into plasma acceleration

An international research team led by DESY has for the first time accurately measured the acceleration process in a plasma without disturbing the process itself.

DESY is an EPS Associate Members.

A step towards solar fuels out of thin air

EPFL chemical engineers have invented a solar-powered artificial leaf, built on a novel electrode which is transparent and porous, capable of harvesting water from the air for conversion into hydrogen fuel.

EPFL (Swiss Plasma Center) is an EPS Associate Member.
